The TEJVAAN story

Samay Se Aage

TEJVAAN did not start with a factory. It started behind a counter, listening to the same complaints for years.

What a distributor hears

Our family has been in the electrical trade in Chandigarh for a long time — as a distributor, which means we sold other people's brands and then dealt with whatever came back. That is an unusual vantage point. A manufacturer hears about failures through a warranty claim form. A distributor hears about them from a customer standing in front of him, holding a two-year-old geyser, asking why it has stopped working.

After enough of those conversations you notice the complaints are not random. The same few things go wrong, for the same few reasons. Scale kills the element. The tank corrodes from the inside. The unit was fine until a pressure pump was installed. Almost none of it is bad luck — it is a design decision that was made to hit a price point, and the customer finds out about it two winters later.

The gap we kept seeing

There is no shortage of geysers in India. At the top there are large brands charging genuinely premium prices, and at the bottom there is an enormous amount of product built to a number, where every part that could be cheaper is cheaper.

What was missing was the honest middle: a geyser built properly, sold at a fair price, by someone willing to tell you plainly what it will and will not do. Not the cheapest. Not pretending to be luxury. Just correct.

We would rather lose a sale by telling someone the truth than win it and lose them as a customer two years later.

What the name means

Tej — brightness, speed, energy. Vaan — the suffix that turns it into something possessed of that quality. And Samay Se Aage: ahead of time.

It is meant in a specific sense, not as a slogan. Ahead of the failure, not reacting to it. Planning for hard water before it ruins an element. Rating a tank for the pressure a high-rise building actually produces rather than the pressure a specification sheet assumes. Being ahead of the problem the customer has not had yet.

How we are choosing to build it

Slowly, and in the right order. We started with a single category — storage water heaters — rather than launching a catalogue of everything. Fans come next, and only when they are ready. We would rather do a few things properly than many things adequately.

We put the compliance and the service network in place before the marketing, which is the opposite of how most small brands do it, and the reason we can tell you which seven states we can actually reach. And we publish things most brands leave out — what descaling costs in a hard-water area, what the warranty genuinely excludes, when the cheaper model is the right one for you.

None of that is charity. It is the only durable way to build a brand that people recommend to their neighbour, which in this trade is the only marketing that has ever really worked.

Where we are now

Early. Honestly early. The range is small, the dealer network is being appointed, and the fan category has not launched. If you are reading this in the first year, you are buying from a brand that is still proving itself — and we would rather say that than pretend to a scale we do not have.

What we can promise is that the phone is answered by people who know the product, and that if something goes wrong we will tell you the truth about whether it is covered.

Want to be part of it early?

Territories are still open, and terms at this stage are a conversation rather than a form letter.
