Warranty terms and conditions

Last revised 26 Jul 2026 · NEW GARG ELECTRICALS, Plot No. 373, Industrial Area Phase-2, Chandigarh 160002

These terms apply to every TEJVAAN storage water heater sold in India. Please read them alongside the warranty card supplied in the carton. Where the two differ, these published terms are the current version.

The short version

We cover manufacturing defects for two years from the date of purchase, and the ELITE inner tank for five. You need your original invoice. Damage caused by installation, water quality, electrical supply or physical impact is not a manufacturing defect and is not covered. Registering online is free and makes a claim faster, but you do not lose your warranty by not registering.

1. What is covered

We warrant that your TEJVAAN water heater is free from defects in material and workmanship when it leaves us. During the warranty period we will repair or replace, at our discretion and free of charge, any part that fails because of such a defect. This covers:

  • The inner tank, against manufacturing defect and against leakage caused by such a defect
  • The heating element
  • The thermostat and thermal cut-out
  • The pressure and temperature relief valve supplied with the unit
  • The outer body, against defects in material or finish present at the time of sale
  • Factory-fitted wiring, terminals and the indicator assembly

2. Warranty period

The warranty period runs from the date of purchase shown on your invoice, not from the date of installation and not from the date you register.

SeriesGeneral warrantyInner tankPressure rating
TEJVAAN AQUA 2 years 2 years 4 bar
TEJVAAN AURA 2 years 2 years 4 bar
TEJVAAN ELITE 2 years 5 years 8 bar

Where a model shows a longer period against the inner tank, that is the total period for the tank — it is not an extension added to the general warranty. On the ELITE, for example, the glass-lined inner tank is covered for five years in total from the date of purchase, while the element and other fitted components are covered for two.

A replacement part carries the unexpired balance of the original warranty; it does not start a fresh period.

3. What is not covered

A warranty covers defects we caused. It does not cover damage that arises after the product leaves us. The following are outside the warranty:

Installation and plumbing

  • Installation by anyone other than a qualified electrician or plumber
  • Installation without proper earthing, or on wiring of inadequate rating
  • Removal, bypassing or replacement of the supplied pressure relief valve
  • Inlet water pressure above the rated pressure of the model, where no pressure reducing valve is fitted
  • Connection to a supply other than the rated voltage and frequency

Water quality

  • Scale build-up from hard water, and any failure resulting from it
  • Corrosion or pitting caused by water chemistry, high dissolved solids, chlorides or salinity
  • Failure to replace the magnesium anode rod when it is consumed, on models fitted with one
  • Use with water that is not potable municipal or borewell supply

Electrical supply

  • Damage from voltage fluctuation, surge, lightning strike or incorrect phase
  • Damage from running the heater dry, or switching it on before the tank has filled

Handling and use

  • Physical damage, denting, dropping or damage in transit after delivery to you
  • Cosmetic marks, scratches or discolouration arising from use
  • Commercial or industrial use of a product sold for domestic use, including hotels, hostels, guest houses, salons, hospitals, canteens and rented commercial premises
  • Repair, dismantling or modification by anyone not authorised by us
  • Use of spare parts that are not genuine TEJVAAN parts
  • Removal or defacement of the rating plate or serial number
  • Fire, flood, earthquake or any other event beyond reasonable control

Purchase and installation circumstances

  • Products not purchased from an authorised TEJVAAN dealer or channel
  • Products where proof of purchase cannot be produced — you need the original invoice or the warranty card, one of the two
  • Products taken outside India. This warranty is valid in India only
  • Installation in a position that is unsafe or effectively inaccessible for service. Where a unit has been concealed behind a false ceiling, boxed in or tiled over, any civil, carpentry or tiling work needed to reach it is at your cost
  • Damage caused by other equipment connected to the heater, including geyser timers, external thermostats or pressure pumps not fitted in accordance with the manual

Things people reasonably expect to be covered, but are not

Servicing is not warranty work. Descaling, cleaning a choked unit, and replacing a consumed anode rod are maintenance. They are chargeable even during the warranty period, on every model.

An element that fails because of scale is not a warranty claim. Scale comes from the minerals in your water supply, not from how the heater was made. This is the most common reason a claim is declined, so it is worth understanding before you need to make one.

A visit that finds no fault, or a fault outside the warranty, is chargeable. The technician will tell you the position and the amount before starting any work.

Not warranty items

  • Consumable and wear parts, including the anode rod and gaskets
  • Routine descaling, cleaning and servicing
  • Installation charges, plumbing materials, fittings, pipes and accessories not supplied by us
  • Transport of the unit to and from a service point where a site visit is not appropriate

4. Conditions you must meet

  1. Keep your original purchase invoice. It is the only proof of the purchase date, and the warranty period is calculated from it. Without it we cannot establish cover.
  2. The product must have been bought from an authorised TEJVAAN dealer or an authorised online channel.
  3. Installation must comply with the instruction manual supplied with the product.
  4. The rating plate and serial number must be intact and legible.
  5. You must give us reasonable access to inspect the product at the installed location.

Registering online is optional, and worth doing

Your warranty is valid whether or not you register it, because it comes from your purchase. Registering means we already hold your invoice and product details, so a claim does not begin with you hunting for paperwork. It takes about two minutes and we email you a certificate.

5. How to make a claim

  1. Raise a service request on this site, or call our toll-free number 1800 270 8016.
  2. Have ready: your mobile number, the model and capacity, the date of purchase, and your invoice. If you registered online, your mobile number is enough to find the record.
  3. Describe the fault as precisely as you can. Photographs of the installation and of any leakage help us send the right technician with the right parts.
  4. We will give you a ticket number. You can track its progress on this site, and you will be emailed when its status changes.

Please raise a claim promptly after noticing a fault. Continuing to use a leaking or faulty water heater can turn a repairable defect into an unrepairable one, and can be dangerous.

6. What we will do

  • We will assess whether the fault is a manufacturing defect covered by this warranty.
  • If it is, we will repair the product, or replace the defective part, free of charge.
  • If repair is not practical, we may replace the unit with the same or an equivalent current model. Where an exact model is discontinued, the replacement will be of comparable capacity and specification.
  • If on inspection the fault is not covered, we will tell you why, and quote for the repair before doing any chargeable work. You are free to decline.

Our liability under this warranty is limited to the repair or replacement described above. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including water damage to property, loss of use, or any cost of alternative arrangements, except to the extent that Indian law does not permit such exclusion.

7. Transfer and replacement

The warranty attaches to the product, not to the person, and runs from the original date of purchase. If you sell or gift the heater within the warranty period, the remaining cover passes with it, provided the original invoice is passed on too. If you have registered online, write to [email protected] so we can update the record.

8. Your statutory rights

This warranty is in addition to, and does not take away from, the rights you have as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and other applicable Indian law. Nothing here limits any right or remedy that law gives you and does not allow us to exclude.

If we have not resolved a complaint to your satisfaction, you may contact the National Consumer Helpline on 1915, or the consumer commission having jurisdiction over your district.

If you are not satisfied with how a claim has been handled, write to our customer care address above. If the matter remains unresolved you may approach the appropriate consumer forum.

9. Jurisdiction

This warranty is valid within India only, and is governed by Indian law. Any dispute is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts at Chandigarh.

We may revise these terms for products sold after the date of revision. The terms that apply to your product are the ones in force on your date of purchase. This page always shows the current version, and the revision date is at the top.
